THACO KIA Plant, in collaboration with THACO Chu Lai's Labor Safety and Fire Prevention Department, conducted a fire, occupational safety, and electrical safety drill on April 6. The training involved 40 employees from the Welding and Assembly workshops.
The drill covered three different emergencies:
Scenario 1: An electrical short circuit ignites a fire and explosion in the Final Assembly Line, impacting a 30-square-meter area with potential to spread further. The fire generates smoke and toxic gases, posing a risk to employee health and hindering firefighting efforts. Forty employees are present on the factory floor and require immediate evacuation instructions. One employee has burn injuries and another is experiencing smoke inhalation.
Scenario 2: Fall from Height in Welding Workshop. An employee is using a tall ladder to remove cobwebs in the Welding Workshop. The employee loses balance and falls from the ladder, landing on the factory floor and sustaining an injury to their lower right leg.
Scenario 3: Electrical Shock at Final Assembly Line. An employee operating the control panel for the Final Assembly Line conveyor system accidentally comes into contact with a leaking electrical current from the control cabinet.
The drills occurred as follows:
A worker gets hands-on with fire extinguisher training
In scenario 1, right after the incident occurred, the relevant departments carried out the response actions: activate the emergency alarm throughout the assembly workshop, contact emergency services and mobilize firefighting teams and vehicles, isolate the fire by cutting off power, shutting down the main gas valve, instruct employees to evacuate the factory floor according to the escape plan, provide first aid to victims, and guide personnel to move essential supplies and goods to a safe area, utilize on-site firefighting measures, such as fire extinguishers and water lines to fight fires to control the blaze at pillars along the walkway.
Upon receiving a fire alarm from the THACO KIA Plant, the THACO Chu Lai Department of Labor Safety and Fire Fighting swiftly dispatched a fire engine and ambulance to the scene. The emergency response team coordinated firefighting efforts to ensure everyone's safety and minimize property damage.
Giving first aid to a fire victimTake the injured person to the emergency room
For scenarios involving falls (scenario 2) and electrical shock (scenario 3), the response followed these steps: activate the emergency alarm, call emergency services to report the incident, cut off power (in scenario 3), administer first aid to the injured person(s), and transport them to the hospital for further treatment.
After the drill, teams gather to share insights
Through the drill, employees were reinforced and supplemented with knowledge and skills in fire prevention and fighting, and the ability to respond to situations of labor accidents and electric shock. The training also contributed to increasing awareness of prevention and ensuring everyone’s safety.
